BARCELONA
MODERNISME MASTERPIECES
A significant part of Barcelona’s charm lies in the quirky, organic structures of Gaudi’s creations that you couldn’t get enough of no matter how long you look. From afar, Casa Milà looks like a stone quarry and Casa Batlló with captivating building of skeletal balconies, iridescent dragon scale roof, and shimmering multi-colored tiles. Entering the garden city of Park Güell is truly submerging yourself in a the magic of a peculiar landscape. Stunning mosaic tiling, fascinating structures, twisting pillars, you’ll be looking at designs that challenges the architectural possibility, yet it still seems so naturally in place. A landscape creation as enchanting as it is, you’ll witness Gaudi’s Modernisme creativity at its prime in the majestic Sagrada Familia. A monumental church like no other, with branch-like columns, soaring spires, an interior painted by the kaleidoscopic stained-glass windows, be enveloped in an endless marvel just like the 3 million visitors every year.
  MADRID
CULTURAL CAPITAL
The one thing you must’ve heard of about Spain is their bullfighting traditions, and Madrid’s massive bullring of Las Ventas is a must-see to believe. The lavish white facade of the Metropolis Building is hard to miss, elegantly sealed with a black dome with a winged statue of goddess Victoria. Sitting at the Cibeles fountain further evokes the splendour of imperial Madrid, as you take in the array of landmarks in Plaza de Cibeles, the impressive facade of Cybele Palace calls out to you. To get deeper into Madrid’s beauty, you’ll visit the historic Alcalá Gate and the imposing grandeur of the Royal Palace, before getting your tastebuds bedazzled at the variety of Spanish food in Market of San Miguel. The liveliness continues all the way in Puerto del Sol, a central square that’s perfect for people-watching and relaxing your day off in the shops and cafes.
  MONTSERRAT
HEART OF CATALONIA
On a getaway 63 km west from the bustling Barcelona, you’ll appreciate the tranquility Montserrat brings. The dramatically serrated mountains is even more breathtaking from 1350 metres above. Apart from the peculiar rock formations jutting out like teeth, the calming view of the Benedictine monastery provides a humbling ambience at your arrival. Enshrining the famous Black Madonna of Europe, the whole setting feels so surreal and peaceful that you find yourself spiritually recharged before taking on Barcelona attractions.
  SANTA JUSTA LIFT
ARCHITECTURAL TREASURE
Lisbon is a charming city with clusters of red-roofed houses on high grounds. Looking up at a 100-feet majestic figure of Christ in open arms, you’ll find the Cristo Rei statue in Lisbon equally impressive as the one in Rio de Janeiro. Standing on the viewing platform, you’ll get an even magnifying view, with the stunning 25th of April Bridge stretching across the Tagus river, its red structure contrasting against the blue sky like a painting. At the river edge stands the iconic Belém Tower, a fort with a facade so exquisite. Finding a way into your heart is Belém’s creamiest egg tart, a Portuguese delicacy that will light up your appetite! There isn’t any palace that is as multi-colored and vibrant as Lisbon’s Pena Palace, a strong portrayal of the Romantic period, with each color symbolizing a different section. Encircled by a lush forest deep in the mountains, wandering in the ornate complex while listening to its rich story is a refreshing rediscovery of lost times. As you stroll along the busy pedestrian street of Rua Augusta, you’ll see the triumphal stone arch that crowns the street, setting a unique accompanying sight. Santa Just a Lift is another street spectacle, a 19th century Neo-Gothic lift smacked in the middle of the streets, you’ll agree that it brings elevator architecture to a new level.
  PORTO
PORT CITY
There’s nowhere more alive than Porto’s Ribeira Riverfront, where you could soak up the local vibe on the streets, from the traditional boats on the glistening Douro river or from the windows of the pastel-colored buildings. With an austere exterior, it’s hard not to express amazement for the prominent Gothic Church of São Francisco. Making a mental note to return, the grand Bolsa Palace is a cultural treasure, built to impress.
  BRAGA
CITY OF CHURCHES
If you think you’ve seen enough churches, standing at the foot of the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte will prove it otherwise. The arresting view of the terraced stairway zig-zagging all the way to the church at the hilltop is something you don’t get to see often. With each landing having its own symbolic fountain, the sanctuary’s beauty allows you to absorb breathtaking views of the whole city of Braga. Hearing the constant chiming of bells, Braga’s expresses age-old spiritual devotion in their many churches, but the one that will take your heart away is Portugal’s oldest cathedral; the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Braga.
