LAKE LOUISE & LAKE MORAINE

CROWN JEWELS OF BANFF

Located in Banff National Park, both Lake Loiuse and Moraine Lake are world famous for its turquoise lakes and soaring mountain backdrop. Both lakes attribute the brilliant blue color to glacier waters full of rock flour that refracts the light. The time to witness this brilliant color is relatively short-lived as the lakes are frozen most of the time in a year. It draws large crowds during the summer months as millions of people visit these alpine lakes each year, and it is definitely a sight that lives up to the hype. Lake Louise is renowned for its natural beauty and abundance of activities. Set in the rugged Valley of the Ten Peaks, Moraine Lake is surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and rock piles, creating a scene so stunning it almost seems unreal. Sit lakeside and absorb the sights and pure mountain air, or explore further by canoeing and hiking, these crown jowels of Banff are iconically jaw-dropping places that sure to leave a lasting impression.

HUBBARD GLACIER

EXPLORATION OF WILDERNESS

Admire the fluorescent blue Hubbard Glacierg, largest tidewater glacier in North America; more than six miles wide where it meets the ocean from about every angle on your ship. The riptides and currents that flow between Gilbert Point and the face of the glacier, a mere 1000ft away, are so strong that they cause Hubbard to calve almost continuously at peak tides. This is one of the most interesting places in Alaska and usually visited through flightseeing or boat tours. Keep an eye on the ice pieces as it fall into the icy waters creating a thunderous sound, and also look out for the whales, harbor seals, and otters that hunt and play in the waters of Yakutat Bay, truly an adventure of a lifetime.

JUNEAU

CAPITAL OF ALASKA

Juneau is a capital of contrasts and conflicts. It borders a waterway that never freezes but lies beneath an ice field that never melts. Downtown Juneau sits snugly between Mount Juneau, Mount Roberts, and Gastineau Channel, and is a maze of narrow streets running past a mix of new structures, old storefronts, and quaint houses featuring early 19th century architecture from the town’s early gold mining days. The waterfront bustles with cruise ships, fishing boats, and floatplanes zipping in and out. With no road access to Juneau, it is the only state capital in the United States that can only be reached by airplane or boat.

KETCHIKAN

SALMON CAPITAL OF THE WORLD

Ketchikan is known as Alaska’s “first city” due to its location at the southern tip of the Inside Passage. It is the first city you reach as you cruise north, and for many visitors, their first introduction to the beauty and majesty of Alaska. Besides, it is known as the 'Salmon Capital of the World' due to its commercial salmon fishing, and this city is also the ancestral home of the Tlingit people, who have carved the world's largest collection of totem poles. The downtown area is the main commercial district with two large harbors, several cruise ship docks, and many Ketchikan’s main attractions, including historic Creek Street, a picturesque boardwalk path built over Ketchikan Creek on stilts. Take a stroll at the former epicenter, where during the days, miners, fishermen, loggers and tradesmen were coming from all across southern Alaska to relax. Today, the street is home to art galleries, gift shops, bookstores, restaurants, and is a photographer's delight.
