AN ARCTIC ARCHIPELAGO
Beyond its jagged peaks and expansive fjord views, the fishing villages of Lofoten Islands offer an inspiring landscape, living up to its fame. Traditional red Rorbuer cabins, all clustered picturesquely at the oldest fishing hamlet tell you so much about the life of the laid-back locals. You might even chance upon snow-capped fjords that will melt your heart with their beauty in the stillness of the moment.
The city of Narvik surrounded by majestic steep mountains, rugged rock formations, arctic nature, and spectacular fjords stretching north to south. Narvik Light House is a photo-worthy spot with an amazing landscape of fjord and mountains right behind. A trip up to the peak via cable car is a must, where you will be mesmerised by the panoramic scenic view of Narvik town and Ofotfjord. Lastly, enjoy a lovely Norwegian lunch in our specially handpicked local restaurant to complete the whole Narvik experience.
The day starts with a classic Norwegian Breakfast before setting out on an arctic voyage on the Hurtigruten. Experiencing authentic Norwegian coastal scenery at every corner is a refreshing sight while immersing yourself in that moment. There’s nothing like breathing in the fresh coastal air against the waves in the arctic setting. Face-to-face encounters with dramatic fjords, charming ports, rare wildlife and the mesmerizing Northern Lights, you’ll be awed by the magnitude of Nordic beauty.
GATEWAY TO THE ARCTIC
The drive from Honningsvag is a thrilling experience as you watch the skilled drivers following the snow plough, going through a pristine polar landscape that gets even more stunning as you approach the North Cape. It’s hard to believe you’re in the same world as you step down the coach to the blinding, white scenery in the cold, you will agree that there isn’t winter as frosty as this one. At the northernmost point of the world, looking out on the plateau to where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Arctic Ocean is a rewarding achievement.
AUTHENTIC SAMI HOUSE
Visiting a Sami home is one way to get closer to the life of indigenous people. As your sleigh gets pulled by the reindeers through the snowy forest, feel a spiritual connection to the land of winter wilderness. Blend into the local life in their traditional clothing, the warm coffee feels so good in your hands as you relax by the fireplace, sampling some authentic reindeer dishes. Time seems to stop as the stories of Sami livelihood echo in your ears.
